From the President’s Pen - February 2010
Chamber Spotlight of the Month: Jefferson Senior Citizen’s Center
Since I am an optimist, all this talk of gloom and doom sent me exploring for tidbits of wisdom that some of my successful business friends were willing to share to help us make our way through this soft market.
Most of the suggestions centered on goal setting, maintaining a positive attitude and remaining highly motivated and energetic. Here is what some of them had to say:
- • Entrepreneurs see the bigger picture; they set huge goals for themselves and those who work with them.
Stay committed regardless of the obstacles. - Try to stay informed. It is important to know what the leaders are doing in your line of work.
- Always look for ways to improve your business.
“Everyone around me is always on the move, full of energy and totally motivated. High standards for me and my staff—that’s what will make this year exemplary.”
“I believe we are half way through the down swing and we are still kicking. Stay positive, work a little smarter and we will come out on the other end.”
“We set objectives and standards each quarter so we are able to make adjustments quickly if necessary.”
Let’s keep our energy high so we may reach the lofty goals we set. Stay focused, positive and be willing to help your fellow businesses. I believe we can bring our Monticello and economy back to the good ole days.
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your President.
